The Agency

AGESS is a joint venture limited company on a non-profit basis set up in 2001 in the frame of the European Programme SAVE II; its main purpose is the promotion of renewable energy sources and technologies, of sustainable development and energy saving at local level.

The agency partnership is composed of:

six local public administrations (Province of Forlì-Cesena, Municipality of Forlì, Municipality of Cesena, Municipality of Gambettola, Municipality of Meldola and Municipality of Santa Sofia), a public body operating in the field of public housing (ACER-Azienda Casa Emilia-Romagna), a multiutility company managing water supply (Romagna Acque spa), the public transport service company (ATR), a waste disposal company (Sogliano Ambiente spa) and the local branch of the National confederation of Crafts, and small and medium-sized enterprises (CNA).

Objectives:

The main purpose of the energy agency AGESS is to support the development of a responsible local policy based on energy saving and on renewable energy sources, towards a sustainable development model.

Activities:

• Info point and toll free number for private citizens, companies and public institutions on energy saving, laws and regulations, funding opportunities in the field of RES and energy efficiency;
• Training and refresher courses for experts and technicians (e.g. training courses for installers of PV plants, of solar thermal plants, etc...);
• Support and professional advice to private companies and public institutions applying for national and European funding opportunities and calls for proposal;
• Organization of conferences, workshops and other events to promote RES and RUE on the territory;
• Dissemination by means of brochures, leaflets and other literature to spread knowledge on sustainability, environmental friendly architecture/building, renewable energy sources, etc...
• Participation in national and international projects;
• Energy and Environmental Plans for local Administrations;
• Energy audit and certification of buildings according to the national law 192/05 and EU Directive 2002/91;
• Management of the ‘Clean Heat' campaign: checking on the maintenance of all heating plants over the provincial territory of Forlì-Cesena;

AGESS is member of the main national network of energy agencies, called RENAEL (www.renael.it).

Target:

The agency activities and services are addressed to public institutions, companies, professional associations and private citizens as well.
